Our Mission
To restore the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of formerly homeless women
with mental illness and their children.
The Loss of “Home”
The lack of a place that nurtures development
and provides a safe environment is especially troubling to homeless children.
Why are mothers and children homeless?
At first glance, it would seem that agreement
should be simple, since the subject is women and children without homes. It is not
simple.
Homelessness is a process involving a loss far
greater than a house. Homelessness may also include experiencing the loss of a job,
serious illness, family violence, alcohol and or substance abuse.
Did you know?
That the typical homeless family is a single
mother, 30 years of age with 2 children under the age of 5?
That research indicates homeless children have
high rates of both acute and chronic health problems, emotional problems, and either
have witnessed violence or have been victimized.
Fairweather Family Lodge will support both the
well-being and the healthy development of homeless children.
