Our purpose is to enhance the lives of adults with mental health disabilities
by promoting their self-sufficiency.
We are distinctive not only in our philosophy but also in the extent
to which this philosophy directs and focuses the efforts of the board of directors,
staff and our lodge members.
Mental Illness:
-
We believe to focus our attention on the individual, rather than the mental illness.
-
We believe that skill training and development that focuses on strengths is more
useful than approaches that focus on problems and weaknesses.
-
We believe that a stable, supportive environment and productive life style promotes
natural healing.
- We believe people experiencing mental health problems are able to overcome dependency
and are able to form and develop healthy adult relationships.
Work:
-
We believe that stable daily work performance is preferable to episodic periods
of high achievement.
-
We believe that most people experiencing mental illness are capable of achieving
stable work.
- We believe that work provides three essentials of self-esteem – identity, dignity
and income.
